Web Rings

what are they and how will they benefit my business

Web rings are an old form of linking that has since made a comeback. They use the concept of linking to other websites in a whole new way. You form a large and growing network of websites that are all linking to you. This is an ever-expanding web of sites as new partners join the ring. There are links to all the members of the web ring and you can travel the entire web ring to check out the  sites and then come back to the original page where you started. You can join the web ring at any one of the member sites.

How to join a web ring:

Look up web rings using your industry key word in Google. For example “Internet marketing web rings” and find one or two that are related to your niche.
Register your site in the Web Queue. You can do this by filling a form. This is either on the web ring main page or will be linked to it. You will need to fill in:

a.    Site Title
b.    URL
c.    Site description
d.    Webmaster name
e.    Address
f.    Keywords
g.    Description
h.    Some will ask for site ID
You will be entered into the Web Ring Queue after submitting and they will send you an email with the HTML code to be put on your site.

Instructions will be sent in the confirmation email on how to put web ring controls on your page.
The ringmaster will review your site and move you into the web ring

How a web ring benefits you: You are probably wondering what the purpose of joining a web ring might be and how it will help you to develop your business. You will join a web ring that has websites that are related to your business. This will allow you to gain more visitors who are interested in your products and services. Each website in the ring will be feeding traffic to your site. With more quality visitors coming to your site you will get more leads and ultimately more sales.

If you have the time you can start your own web ring. Only do this if you have time to maintain it. You will need to:

have a good working knowledge of how a web ring works. You will need to know how to manage it and all the small things that need to be done, so give it a little thought before you begin a web ring project.
Have a hosting account which will accept another website.
Have a reliable email service.
Be knowledgeable about the internet and how it all works.
Be proficient in making web pages

What you need to do to set this up:

Make your web ring home page
a.    Information about your web ring and how too join

c.    An HTML fragment code example-this is a code that provides critical information to the web database. It will allow a visitor to go through to another site in the web ring.
d.    Listing of all the links to the other websites in the web ring
e.    Include a link to the main web ring queue and editing page.
Create your home page with graphics etc
Manage your web ring
