7 Steps To Start Your New Year Promotions Right

It is a brand new year, and now the holidays are behind us it is time to get down to business in a serious way. I am sure that one of your resolutions should have been to finally make some serious money from your business this year. Sadly by the end of 3-6 months many would be entrepreneurs’ dreams have usually faded into oblivion. However this is the time to make sure that your resolution will not fade away, but rather be a stepping-stone to reality.

Here are some tips to get you started:

Make a budget to support your business
Make a business plan with attainable goals.
a.    Where does your business need to be in 3 months? How many new clients are you aiming for, and how many leads are you planning to get?
b.    Make milestones to achieve goals; 3 months, 6 months and a year.
Be sure to have your tools ready to penetrate your market and get a hold on it before your competition does. You will need:
c.    A website
d.    A newsletter
e.    A reliable autoresponder
f.    A variety of compelling ads.
List the methods you will use to achieve your goals and promote your business.
You can market your business in the following ways:
g.    Direct marketing, in publications and websites. Email marketing through your publication and lists.
h.    Passive marketing, with search engines and Pay-Per-Click like Google campaigns
i.    Social marketing, Forums, blogs, Myspace, etc.
j.    Miscellaneous marketing, article distribution, linking to quality websites etc
k.    Depending on your business you may also want to promote it offline.
l.    3rd party contractors
Organize your time and take your business seriously, do not just view it as a hobby but as a profit pulling enterprise. Be determined to succeed.
Understand what you will need to outsource and what you can do “in house.”

Social marketing: can be quite effective but takes at least 1-2 hours of your day, so assess the results carefully and decide whether it is worth it and that you are really gaining good targeted leads from these places.

Article distribution: is always good for getting traffic and building back links. Always keep an eye on the latest trends and check them out to see if they will work for your business market.

In order to fulfill your New Year resolution to make this year profitable, you will need to plan for success. Decide that your business is for real not just a sideline hobby and be determined to succeed.
